The Schwarzkopf Got2b Volumizing Powder

I've had my hair cut shorter about four months ago now, and at the time my hairdresser told me it would be good to buy a volumizing powder, and this will add more texture to my shorter hair. Basically being given a reason to go to Boots, I took myself off in search of a volumizng powder. I picked up the Got2b powder, I already love this brand, and their heat defence spray has been a firm favourite of mine for a while, so I even though I hadn't read any reviews, I thought I'd give it a whirl. I've been trying it out for the past few months and here are my thoughts.

THE POWDER

When I first sprinkled this out onto my hand I thought 'oh no, this may definitely look like dandruff'. Its a stark white powder. It couldn't be a more obvious colour against my bright red hair I thought, but as soon as I rubbed it into my hands, it went invisible and very cold. You need the smallest amount, it's better to use a little and add more if you need, because otherwise you run the risk of looking like you've been dragged through a hedge backwards.

THE APPLICATION

There are two ways to apply this. The first is as I mentioned above, apply a little to your hands, rub it in, and then rub your hands through your hair. It isn't sticky but it does leave a residue that you can feel so I would recommend washing your hands after using this. The second way is to apply it directly to your hair. I use this method if I need the volume to last. I put a little bit onto the roots of my hair and then rub it through. Again, once you rub it in it becomes invisible so no need to worry about it being visible on your roots.

THE STAYING POWER

Good. I wouldn't say it is the most long lasting product, and it brushes out easily, so I apply it and then give my hair a quick hairspray but don't keep touching it. It will easily last on a night out but it would need touching up if you're wanting it to last all day and all night.

THE RESULT

As you can see from the picture above, this product gives a really rough, messy look, without it looking untidy, or like you've just got out of bed. It also keeps the shape in, keeps curls, waves or straight hair straight. I really like this product, I had high hopes for a volumizing powder from this brand, I loved the brand already and my hairdresser recommend getting one of these types of powders - this is something I'll keep in my emergency 'save my flat hair' stash!

Do you use a volumizing powder? Any recommendations?
