Review: Rimmel Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara

I do not enjoy buying new mascaras. I am a wear a mascara until the tube runs out kinda gal because the thought of buying a new one every six months does not float my boat. I find with mascaras it either works for you or it doesn't but there is a certain leap of faith you have to take when buying one as there is only so much wand shape and formula research you can do. When I headed to my local store and saw a picture of Cara Delevigne modelling this very mascara I was like 'if it's gonna make me look like that I'll take it!'. So has this mascara made me look like Cara or more like a panda.

THE PACKAGING
____________________________________________________________________________

It follows the lines of the previous scandaleyes packaging with a big chunky tube. Not the best for travelling but otherwise doesn't cause a problem. The bright orange is anything but subtle, and in my opinion makes it look a little bit cheap but for a budget mascara it's not bad packaging.

THE BRUSH
____________________________________________________________________________

Big and bold! This mascara's brush is one of it's selling points. If you like a bug brush this will be just for you....it's massive. The size allows for it to coat the lashes in pretty much one sweep, but if you hold the brush in place and shuffle it up the lashes this is where it does it's work best. The brush leaves a really strong covering of mascara that gets every lash it touches.

THE FORMULA
____________________________________________________________________________

This is something I'm divided on. I do find the formula quite flaky. I feel like it has great staying power but then towards the end of the day I do start to notice little fleckles of mascara under my eyes. Otherwise the formula is good. It's quite thick and really lengthens the lashes but doesn't make them clumpy at all.

THE REMOVAL
____________________________________________________________________________
One of the worst things about a mascara for me is when it is really difficult to remove. I hate rubbing and rubbing my eyes till they're sore. Unfortunately this mascara does that. I just find it really difficult to remove - even with eye make up remover. When I finally get it off I've rubbed a dark circle around my eye and I'm left looking a bit like a panda. I then scrub my undereyes and eyelids to the point where they are really sore to try get it all off. Its just a lot of hard work.

THE CONCLUSION
____________________________________________________________________________

It doesn't make me look like Cara Delevigne, but for £6.99 it is good value for money and I would recommend it!

See you next week!
Love, Hannah x

  1. The body shop camomile make up remover is really good for eye makeup and doesn't sting (you know, for those odd times I can be bothered to put makeup on...) xx
