Fitness Friday: Week Ten

This week has been a major week. When Bridie and me were out for drinks at the pub with some friends the other night they said 'so you haven't actually ran 10K yet?' and we were like 'No, we have plenty of time'. Then when I came to write last Friday's post and realised there were only three weeks until race day, I panicked a little bit. So this week, I put myself into gear, and planned to boss that 10K.

As I said in last week's Fitness Friday I write these posts on the Thursday night, and again as I said last week I intended to run on the Friday morning. Well, I did. I met my friend Abi and we ran 3.59 miles. Just over 5K. We finished on what was a very hot morning and just thought, we have to do all what we've done all over again, just to each the 10K. We didn't, I had a busy day planned, so I didn't want to tire myself out.

On Saturday morning, I got up early and went for a run with Bridie. Last week we ran 5.5 miles, and this week we thought let's just do it. We knew were we had to go, how many loops and what we had to do to reach that 6.3 miles, that infamous 10K. WE DID IT!!!! We didn't do our fastest 1K, or 5K, or our fastest mile. But we did do that 10K! Now we've done it once, we can do it again! Woo yeah!!!

The rest of the week went by in the blink of an eye. I intended to run on Tuesday morning, but had to go into work early so never got the chance. Although I didn't run on Wednesday, I did have a very active day. I had an appointment in Manchester, so myself and my mum, hopped on a train and spent most of the day there - it was a busy day so I'm glad I didn't try to squeeze in a run as well.

I woke up on Thursday morning to the voice of my Mum telling me, she'd booked my car in for it's new tyres (my car's been pretty poorly) at 10am. I'd already planned to go running with Bridie so when I got there I said I only had about an hour. We ran four miles, in quite a quick time to be honest. We didn't run our fastest 1K or mile, but we did run all four at a pretty constant pace, so that was good because sometimes we find ourselves slowing down quite a lot. And that was it, I came home and stuffed my face full of some delicious cake Bridie had made - thanks Bridie!

It's two weeks to go now, two weeks! The fundraising is going really well, the more people donate the more we're feeling the pressure, but it really spurs us on as well! I'm nervous but excited, it's a new challenge, and they're always exciting.
